Position Description:
We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in pharmacokinetics/pharmacology at the University of Kentucky Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The fellow will participate in an exciting drug development project to further the development of lead drug candidates for the treatment of Ewing Sarcoma. The project involves both research efforts and pre-IND activities.
Qualifications:
The position seeks a trainee whose primary expertise are in Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism but are willing to extend their skillset and incorporate other pharmacology studies such as tumor xenografts for efficacy assessment.
Expertise in bioanalytical methods are also desirable but not critical. The post-doc will perform sample preparation, LC-MS instrument maintenance and operation to acquire highly reproducible data and metabolite identification. They will contribute to study design and/or conduct of animal experiments and will perform PK/PD modeling and statistical analysis. The post-doc is expected to work independently but will interface with the PI, senior graduate students, staff, and collaborators.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences. Experience working both independently and under direction is also critical. Ideally, the candidate should have experience with pharmacokinetic and metabolism study design and conduct. Expertise in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry applied to complex biological specimens are desirable but not essential. Comfort in working with animal biospecimens is a necessity. Demonstrated capability in pharmacokinetic modeling, demonstrated scientific writing skills will be considered favorably.

Maintain excellent lab citizenship.
Develop standard operating procedures for junior staff and students.
Design, conduct, and communicate technically complex experiments.
Develop/use liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry methods for detection of molecules of interest and adhere to standard practices in the field.
Contribute to the intellectual environment of the laboratory and department through presentations.
